Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Laboratory Technician A shall provide analytical and technical support for accurate and timely examination of new technologies and their application in finished products.

BACKGROUND: The Matrix Research and Development Team is responsible for the development and implementation of all new and improved products for the Wrigley Company worldwide. This responsibility is all encompassing and includes: 1) designing and/or improving product performance through unique ingredients to meeting the needs of the consumer in each market 2) research, testing and scale-up of production technologies which provide for efficient and productive gum and confection manufacturing processes 3) packaging research to implement new technologies while protecting product quality and overall appearance and 4) continuing research into new technologies and fundamental understanding of current technologies to meet future needs of the corporation.


Reporting Structure: The Technician A reports directly to the Technical Manager. The Technician A is expected work collaboratively with key Senior Scientists to and provide high level support for current research initiatives.

 

 



Responsibilities:


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Proficient in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
 Possess strong analytical aptitude towards learning and applying new routine and non-routine bench level techniques such as product formulation, wet chemistry and instrumentation.
 Provide good record keeping of all methods and results and conduct routine & non-routine data analysis and interpretation. Proficient in statistical methods a plus.
 Must be familiar with MS Office with an emphasis in Excel.
 Familiar with specialized techniques for testing of products such as rheometers, TGA, DSC, microscopy, spectroscopy, or chromatography a plus.
 Self directed and capable of making independent actions under supervision of a Senior Scientist.
 Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
 Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

 




Requirements:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
 Bachelors degree in Chemistry preferred or other appropriate scientific degree and laboratory experience. Associates degree with experience will be considered.
 0-2 years of industrial experience in chemical analysis, instrumental analysis, data interpretation, and method development.
